I was thinking about that and I called again to talk it over with her but she won't pick up. I bet she's thinking the same thing and seasons want to deal with it. It's nothing to call the police about, if she doesn't pick up then I guess that's just the way it goes :( she's is very irresponsible , good thing she doesn't have any more pigs, I hope. Females anyway....

You should keep pestering, for the reasons lifesvr7 suggested, because that is shameful of her to do. I'm just glad you are a brilliant owner and are willing to look after your guinea pig after finding out she's pregnant :) I hope everything goes well for you!

Thank you DoubtingCandy I hope all goes well too! I would feel bad if she died because of someone else. Oh well. I wouldn't give her back, I don't want to put this on anyone else, and I don't think the lady who gave her to me would take much better care of her. I'm buying a scale on Saturday so I will keep track of her weight then. Her belly is kind of lopsided, and the vet said it was because more babies were in one side than the other... What do you think? Is it normal? Could the vet be wrong? Or is it really because there are 3 babies 2 are in one side and 1 is in the other or something like that?

Yeah best to keep track of her weight so you can make sure she is healthy. Sadly I'm not very knowledgeable around pregnancy with guinea pigs but I'm sure one of the other members should be able to properly inform you :)

Ok I finally was able to find a cheap well made kitchen scale and have recently started weighing her.

Today she is 2lbs exactly. She's a little pig, so she's defiantly gained some weight. She's about 7 weeks pregnant exactly. Tomorrow ill weigh her again and I'll record the last 5 measurements.

I had a little cuddle time today after weighing her and I gently put my hands around her belly bulges. She's only 7 weeks but I can defiantly feel bumps and wiggle and things rolling over, and kicking my hand from both sides. There going crazy in there! I can defiantly feel two, one on each side but I think there is more in the middle on her stomach. How big would the babies be at 7 weeks? How much bigger can she get? Right now both tummy bulges fit perfectly into my hands when Cuped. . I will post pictures and maybe you guys can tell me if she will get much, or a little bigger.

Okay so I waited a couple days and she's huge!! I felt her bottom a little, on the outside where her pelvic bones are and there as wide as the small part of my first fingure, not quite as wide ass my thumb. Her babies kick a lot, does this mean shell give birth soon?? I hope she will be okay! She looks so tiny compared to her belly!

Hello, I'm sorta new here, so forgive me if I am doing this wrong. I may have a pregnant guinea pig on my hands. So anyways I got a guinea pig off Craigslist and the lady said she was not with males, but I'm starting to double think that, because my guinea pig has gained weight very rapidly, and is a plump size now. She eats and drinks a lot and is very lazy. I swear I can feel lumps all inside her stomach but not a lot of movement yet. If she is pregnant, I'd say around 5 to 6 weeks, since she wasn't big when I first got her. The lady said she has not bred before and is around 10 months old. I recently read that guinea pigs can have complications if over the age of 6 so is my guinea gonna make it? :weepy: When I was little I had a pregnant guinea pig who was around 2 years old and she delivered 3 healthy babies and lived a long life. ( this was when I was young and my parents new nothing about guinea pigs). Se didn't have babies before, it's a miracle she survived but I don't know about this new pig. Anyone have experiences where their piggy lived even over the age of 6 months? We have a vet down the road who supposedly treats exotics, but said they don't do many guinea pigs and probably won't be able to do a cesarian if it comes to it. This worries me a lot, and I live out in the middle of nowhere, so any other vets are hard to find and reach. :guilty: So anyone please help me. I'm 93%. Sure she's pregnant. More like 99% . Thanks for your help in advance...

I just want to know if she might make it and if there's any vets in Florida area code 34744 or something near Kissimmee with a vet that is cavy savvy. Will she need a cesarian? She's small for her age, plump and healthy with a 3x5 grid cage just her, till I get her a friend. Again thx in advance.

Well, it's not necessarily close to Kissimmee but not too far.....Kirkman Road Veterinary Clinic sees exotics, including guinea pigs. I have not been there because it is far from me but I have called them before for some advice. You may want to give them a shot.

Yeah.

i can't seem to find one that's close at all, except the one one down the road from me, who treats exotics but have no cavy specialists. I guess I'll have to stick with them. I hope all goes well, I'm trying to feel pelvic bones but it hard. I've herd there right behind the genitals, but some people say in front, and some people say its in the same spot. I'm so confused! I though I felt to bones kind of close together right where her tailbone is, and they seemed like they were moving apart, about as wide as the small part of my fingure.

Okay well she's huge and I have her due date set to about the 5th which is in a couple days. She might be sooner, later I don't know. Is their any signs that she might go into labor? Iv heard of the pelvic bones separating, but where exactly are they??? How do you tell if there separated? She still seems energized and loves attention and to get petted. I feel her babies everyday is that bad? Should I leave her alone? She seems to wreak for pettings and cuddles! I hardly ever take her out except to weigh her now and then. Only every couple days just to seem how much she progressed. She now ways a little over 1,000 grams. ( about 2 and a half lbs). I can literally see the babies kicking. How much longer? I think she's about 9 or 10 weeks along. I feed her tons of veggies everyday, and she has unlimited hay. I moved her to a 2x3 grid cage on a table in my room. I hardly ever go in there except to sleep so its nice and quiet and calm. What else should I be doing?? Please someone answer, I know I haven't been on in a while I'm just really curious. I'll post a pic of her later, and pics of the babies if everything goes okay. Which me luck!

It sounds like you're doing everything right although I haven't dealt with preggy piggies but from what I've read from others who have dealt with them.

One thing I seemed to notice was right before they gave birth, many of the pregnant pigs started getting more reclusive, staying in their hideys and not wanting to be touched. So it could be a sign if she starts doing that.

Other then that, just keep up the good work. Lots of veggies and a nearby water bottle, limited interaction (except for routine check ups by you) and keep your vet on call in case anything goes wrong. Hopefully it should be soon and all goes well! Good luck. :)

Thanks! No one has replied in a while, I thought ny thread was gone! It's okay though. I just need a lot of personal gp questions answers that google wouldn't do for me, so I like to have this thread just in case. I will be sure to post baby pics as soon as there are some. Hopefully everything will go well and nothing band happens! I'm really worried because of her age, she's around 10 or 11 months old. Iv heard GPS over eight can have problems but I think her pelvic bones are separating, from what I feel so hopefully she can deliver. If not i found a vet close bye to head to straight away if something goes wrong! Do you think she will make it with her age??

There is risks associated with any pregnancy but it seems you are doing everything you can to help her along so I would hope and think she should be okay. I know many mention that over 1 year as a "cut-off" you could say for having more risky pregnancies. But it only makes it more risky, it's not a guarantee that bad things will happen, sort of like when older women have babies it just increases the chances of complications but many have babies and have absolutely no issues. Just keep up careful observations before and after and do as much research as you can and what to look out for here and on guinealynx.com

Thanks it's just the sites that say scary and even true things to keep people from breeding, also makes the people with pregnant guinea pigs even on accident stress out! Oh well, I hope everything will be fine. It's good for people to know the risks about pregnancy and I see how much hard work it is for junto to even walk! It's not so,etching a gp should go though. Thanks for the reply, hope and pray everything will go good!

I'm not sure if I'm repeating other people, but you were saying about her age and stuff. It's over 1 year old that they might have complication or below 6 months. When they get to old their hips fuse together and make it impossible to birth. Though some don't fuse or fuse late which may be why your other guinea pig was successful at age 2.

You also said you were pretty sure she is pregnant, but just some more signs to look for. Obviously a swelled stomach, if she feels flabby it may just be that she's fat, but a hard, swelled stomach. Also watch to see if her tits start to swell. As she gets closer to giving birth feel around the hip area around the top of her rump. A day or two before she gives birth there should be a noticable seperation of the hips. Weigh her daily to make she is steadily gaining weight :)

If she is pregnant, she will obviously need a little extra food and nutrition but some people go crazy with it and way OVER feed, and if they get to fat it can also cause problems like pregnancy toxemia. But I wouldn't stress over that to much since that would take quite a bit of over feeding.

Sorry if I repeated people, and I hope I helped a little :) Keep us posted, and I hope everything turns out fine.

Thanks everyone yes I am 100 percent sure she is pregnant, as her stomach is swelled, hard ish, and I can feel and see babies kicking :) I think she is very close to giving birth, as she is very big! The day I set her due date for what I think is on the 5 but I could be very wrong as I don't know the day she conceived or anything. I will definitely post pics and keep y'all updated! Hope everything goes well!

@Locuna you may want to ask Kirkman if they can handle a C-section or if you'd be better off seeing a specialist. They're my regular guinea pig clinic for simple things, but they refer out for more complicated matters. My guinea pig Borat stopped eating, and they worked on his teeth a couple of times. When that didn't help and he developed a nasty abcess, they referred me to a place on Semoran near Red Bug Lake Road. I know it's a haul, but they have a very cavy savvy doctor there who was finally able to do a diagnosis. I can't remember the clinic name. but Kirkman can tell you since they seem to do referrals there quite a bit.
