Hello. My first thread, so it will hopefully go well.

My family has been getting guinea pigs for a while from Petco's, or other pet shops for a while.

Unfortunately, they all die (rest in peace).

Our one guinea pig is used to and likes another guinea pig.

We have been considering breeders, so the piggies would be healthier.

It's very hard to find guinea pig breeders, or just a general place where we could get healthy guinea pigs.

Are there any suggestions? Sorry for any inconvenience. I can make clarifications in the thread, if needed.

Those of us in this forum, for the most part, are anti breeder. The reason being is that there are so many neglected, dumped, accidental pregnancy, and many many other reasons that shelters are filled with adorable, adoptable pigs. We would much rather see them get homes than perpetuate that horrible conditions that pigs endure in the pet store chain.

Thank you! How would I find a healthy, adoptable guinea pig?

What's the nearest city to you?

I'm willing to go to any US in the NE part, around Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, etc.

I live in CT and have kept cavies on/off for about 30 yrs. This time we have had them continuously since about 2011. You are welcome to private-message me, but just know that I am extremely busy at present. My response likely won't be a long chatty email as I would like, but at least it will give you some ideas and a place to start your search.

In the meantime look up

I've always wanted to visit the place, but apparently, it is quite a hike from me. My understanding is that Sat/Sun are the days to make a trip.

I'll second this. I've supported this rescue in the past, buying t shirts and whatnot. they've had a VERY rough go of things, so I love it when good things happen for them.
