I'm getting a new cage for my new adult GP and i
m wondering how many grids and connecters i would need to make a really great cage. I need to know everything i would need to make a great big cage and about how much a should expect to pay and if anyone knows where a good relieable place to get them.

Cages

12 grids = minimum
16 grids = a great floor size
36 grids = if half of floor space of 16 grids has second floor

1 grid = average of 85 cents US$ (or correct me)
36 grids = average of US$30.6 for a great one (or correct me)
(not including ramps, racks, accessories, toys and bowls)

Where to find them: Click <a href="https://www.guineapigcages.com/cubes.htm" target="_new">here</a>
The best way to do before you plan for a cage is to completely read this site, its worth reading for.

Re: Cages

I bought mine from Wal-Mart, you could also use cable ties as connectors, carefully read this site and it should answer all your questions, it did mine! We're still building our C&C Cage, should be done by the end of the weekend though, good luck!

Re: Cages

One bow is enough but you'll have some excess which will be good in making a hay rack etc.
Usually there are enough connectors if you buy a box but if it so happen as what Deandraspigs says Cables and Pliers will be of good use.
If you want a real connectors I think the supplier can provide you extras.

grids

1 box of 24 cost me $18 at Target. I forgot about the connectors and used zipties. I aquired the ties thru work, so they were nothing, but a bag of 100 isn't too pricey and they work well.

yes

yes, unless of course you need a lid on the cage, then you may need a few more grids.

My cage is a 2 grid x 4 grid bottom level, with a 1 grid x 2 grid upper level at one end. That took 20 grids pieces, and I used 2 grids to make the ramp, and have 2 left over. Since I plan on another 1x2 upper level at the other end, I'll need 8 more grids... that means another box and more coroplast, so my piggies may have a third level added on to "Hog Heaven" to use some of the extra.

I would really like to give them a 2x5 or 2x6, but I would have to move them to the basement for that, and they love the morning sunshine and the abundance of daylight where they're at.
