I've posted your question on the guinealynx medical forum.

    Signs of a URI

I'm sorry for your loss, daftscotslass. Is it possible your vet didn't give you the right antibiotic or the right dose? I've found a lot of vets give a very conservative dose, which is often not right. I lost a pig due to a URI, but it was due to getting a small dose of an incorrect antibiotic.

    wooden house

Why do you need to disinfect it? Was one of your pigs sick? Can you not just wash it in soapy water?

    Signs of a URI

How long has she had the runny/stuff nose? Weeks? One of my pigs has a chronic runny nose and sneezing. After 2 antibiotics, my vet finally decided it's not a URI, but rather a chronic viral infection which for some reason my pig is unable to fight off. There is also the possibility of a dust...

    agressive male piggy

It could be mites or lice or just general stress. Pay attention to any increase in scratching. Two of my male pigs starting fighting and when I looked closely at their fur, it was crawling with lice. They could also be fighting due to lack of cage space. How big is their cage? If he doesn't...

    Poop problem

One of my pigs had poop like that recently, but it was a result of him being on Baytril. It took about 1 week for his poops to get back to normal. I fed him poops from my healthy pigs, as Ly&Pigs suggested, this is the best thing, but obviously not an option for you. You could buy acidophalus...

    ramp idea

Hey, great idea with the sandpaper. Personally, I've found shelf-liner works very well. I just tape it to the top of the ramp and replace when dirty.

    eeks! what have i done?!?

My poor little piggy... I was severely sleep deprived yesterday and although I cleaned my pig's cage, I forgot to replace his hay! He was all night without hay, only a few pellets and some water and some super clean towels. My st*pid hubby didn't even notice. Now he's chowing down like there's...

    My guinea pig has diarrhea!

Yes, romaine is good. Also try endive, green leaf and red leaf lettuce.

    Wheek Wheek

Yeah, my pigs have been getting really spoiled recently. They are constantly wheeking for veggies throughout the day. Not to mention they are getting fat. One of my pigs gained 2 ounces in 1 week. They are going on a schedule!

    2nd Story Ramp Question

I used coroplast and added coroplast sides for safety. Also I taped shelf-liner to the ramp for grip and it can be easily replaced when it gets dirty.

Would a bigger cage make my boars get along?

Why not make a 2-level cage. Put the nasty pig by himself on one of the levels. If you want him to socialize a bit you can put him out with one of the other pigs during floortime, but sounds like putting all 3 together is too much.

    Pip and Cocoa fighting?

Your cage seems huge. Are you sure Pippin's lip injury is due to fighting not to something sharp in the cage? If they're really fighting, more floor time will help.
