So on January 21st I woke up to 3 little guinea pig babies. I had assumed we had two girls because that's what we were told when we adopted them, but we ended up having a boat and a sow and now 3 little babies. I'm scared that overnight (sometime after she gave birth) she got pregnant again because I know they can get pregnant right away. It would be about 6 weeks now and she's looking pudgy! Im not sure if it is because she is eating more (4 piggies in one cage makes it hard to tell who is eating what) but I want opinions on what you guys think based on these pictures; I think it's unlikely since we took the boar out as soon as we found the babies, but I want to be prepared!

Also, if anyone has anyone has any advice on how to figure it out, besides going to the vet, let me know!

First things first, have you checked if any of the babies are male? Generally, the male would need to be separated from their mother/sisters when they are latest at 3 weeks old, so please make sure none of the babies are male, or you run the risk of getting all the girls pregnant.

Please read these pages for more info on reproduction and labor:
https://www.guinealynx.info/reproduction.html
https://www.guinealynx.info/labor.html

Also, sows nearly double in size if they are pregnant, especially near the end of their pregnancy. The gestational period of a guinea pig is anywhere from 9-10 weeks, and since she is nearing 7 weeks since the last time she gave birth, it does look like she's pretty round, almost like a pear shape.

Since the boar was with her when she gave birth to her pups, it is very likely she might be pregnant again.

Did you extend their cage in order to give them adequate living space?

In terms of diet for the sow and babies, they need good quality hay, and good quality alfalfa pellet. If you feed a timothy pellet, supplement them with either alfalfa hay mixed in their grass hay, or a small amount of high calcium veggies such as parsley.

At this time, since she's almost at 7 weeks you should be able to feel the pups move when you press gently against the sow's flanks. Can you feel anything when you do this? Also, at the last week of pregnancy, you can hear the pups' teeth grinding.

Back to back pregnancies are very hard on sows, so you need to take her to an exotics vet in case of a medical emergency. She's a living, breathing creature and it's your responsibility as her owner to make sure everything with her health is sound.

Dirah93,
We took the babies to an exotic specialist around 3.5 weeks and they were all female (Luckily) , and so we seperated the male and then extended the females cage. I did think I felt something when I was trying to figure it out yesterday, but I wasn't sure what it was because it just felt like a lump! I have been supplementing them with vitamin c tablets and the babies got alfalfa hay but I will try giving her parsley because I didn't know that was an option!

I just want to say I appreciate your concern and all your advice! I know they are a huge responsibility and I try to take the best care I can for them! Thank you again, I will try to feel her stomach again tonight to see if I can few anything different!

One last question, you said it is very likely she is pregnant again since the boar was there at the time of birth. We had them and assumed they were female for over 2 months before the female got pregnant (she gave birth January 21st so it would have been sometime in November) and they were housed together before then also without any problems. Since it took 2 months for her to get pregnant the first time, would it still be likely for her to be pregnant this fast? I don't know how the hormones or anything works in guinea pigs?

Yes, it is still very likely for her to get pregnant that fast after giving birth, regardless if they lived together before and she didn't get pregnant right away.

How would all three of your girls get pregnant at the same time? They look like mine, well fed.
