Bonding Alternative way to transport to the vet

Hello everyone! Quick question: our girls have their first vet appointment this Monday. What do you suggest I use to transport them there? I'm debating whether buying a carrier is even worth the price. Any suggestions?

I use cardboard pet carriers from Petco. $7 each, plenty of air holes, the lid locks down so they can't get out. I put fleece and hay in the bottom.
