They might still be settling into their new home with you. It's also possible that they don't like the 1st cut hay. Usually it's too rough for piggies. 3rd cut is the best, but 2nd is okay too.
Wow congrats!
I'd love to take some dual enrollment classes, but right now I have ZERO space in my schedule. I'm taking parts of the IB program though, so that'll give me some good credits, probably some for college too.
Hello Missy,
The Piggy Poo Guinea Pig Rescue would be happy to help you. We are very experienced with cavies.
Please feel free to PM me if you would like some more information!!!
Rachel - APPR volunteer :)
She's beautiful and looks just like my girl, Poppy.
I do believe the tag is from being a breeder pig or a show pig. Such a shame that they would do that.
They are peruvians.
Be careful when handling her now that you know she's pregnant. Support her well with both hands.
When the babies are born you will need to separate the boys out when they're 3 weeks old or else they can make the mama and sisters pregnant.
It really saddens me too when I see piggies in less that adequate conditions. Even though the humane society is just trying to find them a new home, they don't really know what to do when it comes to small animals. I'm glad you adopted the female and I hope your mom adopts the male.
I got one of my bounce back toys on Pet Supplies, Dog Supplies, Cat Supplies, Pet Meds & Pet Products
and my other one I got at the 99 cent store. I can't put a treat inside the one from Foster & Smith.
Does his breathing sound normal when you hold his chest by your ear? Or is it dry and raspy? Did you get him from a petstore? If you did he might have a URI as petstore pigs are often sick.
I guess we're pretty lucky down here in AZ. We are in a drought yes, but I suppose it's better than flooding. The weather right now is great as well! 107F today which is just lovely!
