Alrighty, treating for mites yet again. I've used the oral solution in the past, which I've needed to dilute. This time I'm using pour on solution, ordered from amazon. I'm a little confuse though, because it is asking for a 0.5% solution. Here is what I know from the packaging though:
it is a...
I got my cavy bistro today! :) Since my cage is 3x6, i decided to put the bistro on the outside, to form a 3x6 + 2x1.5 L-shaped cage! I am LOVING this.
Ok. So with my hay rack, hay is constantly falling outside the cage onto my carpet. I've seen people make hay racks out of bent grids, but then I also saw there is a hay rack designed for C&C cages on the store here.
Does anybody have any experience with either of those, that can tell me which...
I realized today that I don't even pay attention to how much I spend on my guinea pig supplies. With three little pigs, I should really start thinking about this! Got a great deal at the grocery store today:
Yellow pepper: $1
Red Leaf Lettuce: $.94
Green beans: $.24
Cilantro: $.50
Roma Tomato...
Just wanted to show off the new member of my family. His name is Oliver, and my future husband is on-board with the new addition! I can't wait for quarantine to be over so he can join his brothers!
My pigs are about a year old, if that.
I came home from college to find one of my boys (I haven't handled the other yet... I'm still trying to deal with the first) with....SOMETHING hanging from his behind. I managed to get it loose with mineral oil... but I'm having difficulties trying to...
So I've discovered my mom's old singer sewing machine. Forward and back, nothing fancy. :) But I'm 20 years old, and have never touched a sewing machine before now- I decided it was about time! I just wanted to share with you the results of my weekend. I don't know why it's sideways. :( But...
I was shopping for some new fleece for my boars (I've recently gotten into sewing!) and I found the CUTEST patterns. Of course, the fleece came home with me! After making a bunch of cozies, I realized how girly their cage is! :D Haha!
I don't think they care. They had fun playing with the new...
So normally oxbow is a favorite, but I have to buy it from the pet stores in little bags. I'm living in a college setting, so it's not really plausible for me to have a big bale of hay shipped to me! Haha, anyway, so I've noticed the quality of the small bags of oxbow has gone WAAAY downhill. Is...
I might have hit an all-time-low as far as nerdiness! :)
I just set it up so that I can watch my pigs from another room in the house. I have both an iPad and a macbook, so I connected the two via facetime. I left the iPad next to the cage, and now I can see the pigs on my laptop whenever I want...
I have two boars, Fish and Pierre. They are about 5 months old, in a 2x5 C&C cage. (It was 2x6 until yesterday, when I had to move them into my new apartment I made it a tad smaller...but this also happened in the 2x6.)
Pierre was originally the dominant piggy, and I think still is. But...
So I've got two piggies. Fish and Pierre.
They're probably both about 5 months right now.
Fish weighs 605 grams, Pierre weighs 858 grams.
Fish is really short and feels pretty tight everywhere. Almost like he's got nothin' for extra fat. He's easier to hold and pick up.
But Pierre is for...
I hoped that I'd never have to deal with this- but it's become a problem. I'm 99% certain that Pierre's got mites. He's scratching like mad, and now has the V-shaped spot I've read about.
So, I got him some Ivermectin. It's 1.87%, oral paste.
How are we supposed to dilute it? Can I just use...
Hey there! So I'm currently working on some cage building stuff. (Yay, new grids!)
I currently have a 2x6, which is resting on the floor. I was thinking about making a loft, but that would require new coro-- don't have the funds to do that right. now. (Plus cleaning would be a hassle.)
So I...
Hi all!
I'm moving in to my new apartment in about a month. :) Don't worry, my pigs are cleared to come with me, even with the roommate! We're pretty excited to make the move, but there's some small details yet to be worked out.
For one thing, they have SO much stuff!! I feel like 45% of what I...
So I bought some "Clean and Cozy" bedding, by Kaytee. It seems like my pigs were eating it??
I took it out of the cage for now... but I'm wondering if I should be worried??
Ugh, these piggies are driving me CRAZY today! If they weren't so cute, they'd be in huge trouble. Hehe. :)
My fleece doesn't reach all the way across their cage (2x6), so I layer two pieces, to reach all the way across. These little goobers figured out how to get underneath the fleece, and...
Hi everyone. I have a question about my piggie, Pierre. Since I moved him and his buddy, Fish, over to their new C&C cage, I've noticed he makes an odd noise when he walks.
It's like a warbley noise... about halfway between their wheeking and complaining noise.
I was just wondering, if anybody...
Okay, so I know this website doesn't recommend pet store piggies, but I adopted Pierre before I knew that.
Pierre is about 6 or 7 weeks old, and adopted from a pet store. This store had 4 piggies of the same age, in the cage together. I only purchased Pierre, about 5 days ago. I am thinking...
