Hi, what a great website this is! Sue from guineapigzone gave me the address.
I have already see great foto's of beautiful cages.
I don't have guinea pigs yet. My daughter did a bloodtest yesterday just to make sure she is not allergic for the piggies. We will have the result next monday or tuesday.
As soon as it's positive I really want t have grids to make a nice big cage for two piggies.

Ooooooooooooooh....! The Netherlands is (are?) such a wonderful country. It's on my list of places I'd love to live someday, and hearing about the lives of fellow cavy slaves there is only going to make me love the idea even more.

PS. It is super responsible of your to test your kiddo for allergies beforehand. It would be really nice to be able to do things like that over here...

I don't complain, it's got nice places::)

I'm very happy indeed we could do this test, I didn't know, but they told me like that on a Dutch forum

Another Dutchy here.

I saw you found the topic on where to get grids. I went a different route. Did use coroplast, which Gamma has (could be Praxis, not sure), but you can find it online as well. I got my sheet relatively cheap because I could pick it up myself. (North Limburg)

I use a run I bought at zooplus.de The Dutch version of zooplus doesn't have them, they only offer a coloured run, but that is not high enough for my liking (23cm instead of 25,5cm that I have)

Here is my cage. Have since removed the laundry pins (wasknijpers) because I fixed it al together with tie-wraps.

Yeah, I went across Europe a few years ago and The Netherlands and Belgium were two of my favorite counties. Any place where biking is easy and commonplace earns major points with me.

if you have the time, get a check for allergies to various kinds of hay. Hay allergies, especially Timothy hay, are pretty commonplace and people confuse them for allergies to guinea pigs.

wow sardonic smile, that's a beautiful cage!
tnx for the info but how do you call coroplast in Dutch? then I can ask Gamma or Praxis.

Nice to hear lovecraft! yes,we live in a country with a lot of bikes. I don't have car. I must say that's rare, most people do have a car here. But still many people use their bike especially when the weather's nice.
I' curious, to which other countries in Europe have you been? and do you live in US?
I'm waiting for the testresult and then I'm gonna try different kind of hay. Tnx for the info anyway!:)

I live in the US now, and I'm a natural-born citizen yeah. We went through France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, The Czech Republic, Austria, and northern Italy in 2008 by bike and by train (plus separate trips to Iceland and Sweden). I haven't owned a car in years either. I try to live and travel places where I don't need one; they stress me out wayyyyy too much. It's difficult here in America sometimes, because in a lot of places, things are SO spread out that you just can't bike there, but I'm lucky to live in a city with pretty good public transit and somewhat okay bike lanes (in a few places).

The ONLY thing that's difficult to do without a car is animal care. My vet does house calls, but if she didn't, I'd have to rent a car any time I needed to make a vet trip, or pray for a kind taxi driver.

Polycarbonaat kanaalplaat, of kunststof kanaalplaat.

if you live anywhere near the German border, Das Futterhaus usually has good hay.
