I added onto my cage... AGAIN! lol The first is a picture of when I first added a 1X2 loft to my 2X4 a few months ago:

Let's see your cage Pictures please.

Then this past weekend, after realizing the 1X2 kitchen loft was not quite big enough for my two girls anymore, I decided to expand it. I wanted to do a 2X2 with 1X2 overhanging, but I would have to move the loft to the other end of the cage, and then it would be hanging over my bed. So, I just made it a 1X3, which seems spacious enough:

I also moved their ramp from the far side of the cage to almost the middle of the cage. I put their pigloos against the 1X2 wall underneath of the kitchen loft... So now they basically have a whole 2X3 on the bottom that is cleared to do laps in, with no ramp in the way, and they are really happy about that!! :) Bridget (Buffy's momma) has been popcorning and doing laps around it, which I haven't seen her do in a long, long time since she was just a little thing. It's amazing how excited piggies get over the simplest changes. lol

Let's see your cage Pictures please.

Here they are all tired out after all of the excitement!

Buffy:

When we got our piggies the 3 of them were living in a small pet store cage, so we really wanted to make somewhere nice for them.
Our first attempt:). the top was just for storage.

Then Hubby built the girls a house

What can I say, by then we were enjoying ourselves, so they got an upstairs and loft conversion:crazy:

This is a bad photo since I took it with my phone. I used 2 pieces of PVC house trim as my horizontal supports for the loft. It has a lip on one edge that holds the loft in place so it's really secure and won't tip. Both levels of the cage are held together with zip ties but are not attached to each other. The loft lifts right out so it's easy to clean under it. I used velcro to attach the ramp. I used small pieces of one side of the velcro to stick on the underside of the supports to hold it to the grids on both sides. It's really sturdy.

That's a great idea to make the base and the loft seperate pieces. I made a loft a month or two ago and the only thing I don't like is how hard it is to clean under it.

Just redid my cage to Zebra/Hot pink :) Here's my 2x6. And if you look in the fleece forest you can see Babe poking her little head and feet out for the camera.

Well, my cage is not your typical C&C cage but we had to kind of improvise since it was constructed rather quickly over the holidays because I didn't want those poor piggies to be in that little cage more than they had to. All of the cages are so fancy and big! I definitely would like to go bigger and maybe add a second story. Let's see your cage Pictures please.

I think this is a great idea. Can you post the bottom dimensions?

Not the most exciting of cages, but thought I would share! I love watching Squirmy and Skittle run up the ramp for veggies!
Quick question... does anyone just use fleece or do you all add litter boxes? I hate the wood shavings getting all over the fleece... if you do daily sweeps, can you go a week without a complete changing? Or do you need the litter box for that?

Finished the cage for my girls yesterday. There's a 1x3 kitchen on the top level, a 2x4 play area & a 1x1 bedroom on the middle level. The bottom level is for storage. There's a fleece forest in the bottom left corner.
