mine hardly gets empty.. because my 4 month old piggy is eating quite little... well, he nibbles the pellet one by one... nibbling 1 pellet needs like such a long time... so there's always food on the tray...

How much do you put into the bowl? I remember reading that 1/8 to 1/4 is enough for one pig. Not sure if this is true though

I didn't put much... because I bought the wrong one.. mine one contains seeds so I chose the pellets which are not seeds and put on the tray... I'll say around 8 to 10 pieces of pellets... my piggy doesn't eat much... he eats a lot of time but his nibbles are too minute to finish the whole bowl

If he is eating other foods properly, it may just be the particular brand of pellets. What product do you use?

I'm using some pellets which is a mix of seeds and some other ingredients... I've posted it here sometime ago... It's called Classic or something I forgot... I'm not at home currently so can't tell you the name, sorry.

I'm not sure how much he weighs as I don't have a weighing machine... I'll check and see if there's a weight machine on sale or something and I'll let you know his weight as soon as possible. By the way, how much should a 4 month old abby weigh? And what about the size? I'm afraid the petshop keeper might have told me the wrong age... Hmmm

I put a little in the bowl everyday because my piggies ruin their food by pooing in their dish.

You need to feed plain pellets without seeds, hay and veggies every day.

It's not required, but I've found that they do eat more when it's fresh. You need to replace it if soiled, wet, or stale of course.

Cavy Cuisine is much too expensive to change everyday. If it gets poo'd in, I remove the poo. I also don't add too much to the bowls that way it's always fresh and if they spill it, it's not a lot.

same here. I use an ashtray, maybe holds about approx. 1/4 - 1/2 cup for 2 piggies. Usually lasts about 1-1/2 to 2 days, then I just clean bowl and refill.

Well, that's creative! I would have never of thought using an ashtray.. Aren't they really heavy?? :D (I wouldn't know, as we don't have any around the house, but my Aunt has a few... I think..)
