Bathing Guinea Pig bathing question

So we went on a vacation a little bit ago, and the guinea pigs poo built up in the cage and they were walking in it all weekend long. I know that a Guinea pig skin can be dried out if they come in contact with water. Is the same true for their feet or can I safely wash them?

Guinea pigs can be bathed, feet and all. You just need to use the proper shampoo and make sure you rinse it all out.

Squeaky Clean Critter Shampoo is readily available. You can also use cold pressed virgin coconut oil on their feet after they've been bathed.

How often should you give them a bath?

Only when they need it. They're clean animals, and a short haired pig can go for years without a bath. Long haired pigs tend to get all sorts of trash and gunk caught up in the hair around their butts and that hits the floor of the cage, and may need butt baths much more frequently.

If you keep the cage clean and the hair trimmed around their rear ends, they won't need bathing very often.

Okay, great! I thought I was doing something wrong by not giving mine baths. My little guys tend to hold grudges when you make them do something they don't like ☹
They are short hair and stay pretty clean. Thanks!
