So I was doing quite a bit of research today trying to learn about roans and I don't think she is a roan(it was brought to my attention in another forum). The only white on her JuJu, is a little bit on her head which from I read makes her an American Crested Guinea Pig and from what I can see also a chinchilla guinea pig, the large spots on her are a blonde with the grey peppered with the blonde. Does anyone know more about this type of breed? I can't find much on it. Here of some pictures of her the day I brought wrangler home (when I thought he was female). My male is also about the same color as my female.

Google "what is a roan guinea pig" (without the quotes) and look at the images. Both your pigs are roans.

I disagree, they both appear agouti to me. Agouti and roan are different colours both genetically and physically.

If you look at the individual hairs in the "peppered" sections of their coat agouti guinea pigs will have two colours on the one hair shaft, the bottom will be the base colour (normally black, brown or grey) and the top will be the ticked colour (normally orange or cream, occasionally white as is the case with silver agouti).

I did Google what is a roam guinea pig and they didn't seem to match the description because they don't have white hair interspersed in its coat. I looked up an Agouti and that seems to fit their description. Thank you both.

I hope you're right. If she's pregnant, she's not totally out of the woods as far as a lethal pup is concerned, because theoretically any pig with white on it can carry that allele. It's not as likely as it is if they're roans, but it's something to keep in mind.

After posting it, I realized it wasn't the best lighting to get the full impact of his multi-colored brown fur...

To answer @KimmieS 's question about chinchilla guinea pigs, it is just a color. I believe Chinchilla fur is thicker, but I'm not certain. That could be rabbits. The breeds are the american, abyssinian, crested, peruvian, silkie (or sheltie in Europe), teddy, and a few others. Chinchilla, roan, TSW (tortoiseshell and white), agouti are all just colors.
@4cavies Roans have white mixed all throughout their hair. I can't tell exactly from the pic, but he looks like just an agouti with a white spot on his nose.

Roans do not always have white mixed throughout their hair. I have a dalmation, which is a roan. She has a solid black head but roaning throughout the rest of her coat.

The only white on her JuJu, is a little bit on her head which from I read makes her an American Crested Guinea Pig.

It's not the white on her head that makes her a crested. It's the rosette (the swirl/cowlick) that makes her a crested. Guinea pig breeds have to do with the type of fur, not the color.

Right, but what I was reading there are two types of crested guineas. White/American Crested guineas that have white in their crest and Engilsh crested whose crest is the same as the rest of the guinea coat.

Yes, officially American Crested have white crests.

I see both agouti and roaning in at least one of those pigs.

American crested guinea pigs have a crest in a contrasting color from the rest of their body. It can be any color but is usually white and should be as close to a perfect circle shape as possible. The color can't be anywhere else on the guinea pig. English crested are one solid color.

I forgot about dalmatians, sorry. I know I was forgetting something. But black and white are mixed together throughout her body (from the dalmatians I've sen) though, right?

@KimmieS And the crest is a rosette. American crested have a white rosette, not just a spot. English crested have a rosette, but it is not colored.

Her head is solid black but she has roaning on the rest of her body. There's some shininess on her cheek that looks white but it's not.

I think they look completely agouti. The smaller one looks like a lemon agouti. The other might be silver which could be called chinchilla. It's much the same as the chinchilla colored rabbits. Guinea pig color names are quite varied. I'm going off the color genetics sites but pet owners in particular have several names for a color based on what they think it looks like.

People make up names for breeds, too. Werewolf, abbruvian... they're catchy but not actual names

Here is a better picture of him. I had been told he was a roan and I had never heard of agouti before, but the more I look into the more I think he is just an agouti.
