Meet Chip. He was my piggy partner for the first ever Guinea Pig training camp held in the United States.
The first session was held in Orlando, Florida on April 4th-7th. It was hosted by the University of Doglando and the guest speaker was Dr. Roger Abrantes. Dr. Abrantes is renowned for training rats to detect landmines in Africa, saving many lives.
The focus of the training was for trainers (mostly of dogs), who want to learn how to become better trainers. The idea being that since guinea pigs are prey animals and require a significant amount of trust in their handlers, the handlers would have to really focus on their movements and approach to training. Guinea pigs aren't as forgiving as dogs when it comes to their willingness to work.
Here is a link to some information about the course. It is in its beginning stages and has only been hosted in the US twice. There are plans to expand and move some of the sessions to the west coast of the US. For those who live abroad, there were also sessions held in France, Italy, and I believe Australia.

There are a few videos and additional links you can explore if you open the link above, but for the most part, the majority of this information is under lock and key. Dr. Abrantes is trying to establish his name, I'm guessing through patents or copyrights, before making this fully accessible by the public. Scientists are picky about getting credit for their work. lol
