I want to set my 2x3 with small hayloft on top of the 2x4. Except I don't know how to keep the bottom from collapsing on the 2x3. I can't get the connectors that come with the grids to stay on. I tried the rubber mallet and pliers but the grids still popped out when I went to set them in place. Even if I use the connectors won't the bottom still sag? How do you stack cages without using any middle supports?

The only way to stack a 2x3 on top of a 2x4 would be to use zip ties. You DO still need a support. Use a 14" tall small PVC pipe for support.
