Hey all!

I have washed my fleece on what is now the 11th cycle... Hot water, no softener in or out of my normal detergent, vinegar in my rinse cycle.. Ive even soaked prior, double-rinsed and everything. Only 2 of the pieces of fleece are wicking (very slowly) and the rest are still pooling liquid on top.

Am I missing something? I'm about to give up completely..

:(

Thanks in advance for any help xx

What type of fleece are you using? And I agree, use bleach but you need to do an extra rinse when its wicking.

It's 100% polyester fleece, I've been doing an extra rinse cycle every time as well. I don't have bleach at the moment, it's roughly an hour for me to get any.

Have you tried applying slight pressure to the fleece?? When guinea pigs pee their bodies might run over it a bit or they might step in it with their paws. I remember when I was washing mine to get it to wick I was having similar problems. I tried pressing on it slightly and it wicked immediately. Hope this might help!

Soooo I've now realised that my "absorbent" layer isn't absorbent at all. Giving up for now and using the wood shavings that I've got because I can't stand to see them in their pet store cage any longer.

As much as I'd love to make my own I'm thinking, as pricey as it will be, of buying a liner set from Etsy. Majority are made on the US with fleece and uhaul padding so I think this is gonna be the best option for me right now. I'm too remote to just be able to pop to the shop and grab things, my spotlight and Bunnings trip (fail) was almost 6 hours of driving.
