Hello, since I've 2 pregnant females from the shop, and one of them have given birth to 3 babies today, and I really can't bear to give them away if they are males, I would need another cage.

I really am limited in spaces thus I would need the 2nd cage to be on top of the first cage on the ground.

Anyone got any ideas on levelling up the 2nd cage from the first? I'm so scared of collapses :guilty:

You can build a stacked cage out of grids. Make sure to use connectors and lots of zip/cable ties.

You can use wood to support the cage, like this:

If you are handy, you can build the whole cage from wood.

For an easy option, you can put one cage on the table and one on the bottom.

I built mine from wood.

Thanks for all the nifty ideas!
Is it fine if I don't have connectors and use alot of cable ties only instead?

I think the cage might not be sturdy. You can try with just grids and zip ties. If it doesn't work, you can always add the wood. Some people use metal window rods for support.

If you opt to build it yourself and decide to finish it off with a stain and varnish, carefully read the labels to be sure there are no toxic ingredients you will expose the guinea pigs to. Clear finishes sometimes contain dangerous carcinogens.

My cage is made with an aluminium frame and is incredibly sturdy. It is also on wheels so mobile. The guinea pigs are in the top two cages, and the grids along the front fold down for easy access. The rabbits use the bottom as their home base but are never shut up in it.

How did you make the aluminum frame?

We got aluminium tubes in 180cm pieces from the hardware store. Using a hand saw, we cut the tubes to size (was easy to do), and then used 3 way and 4 way corner pieces to join the whole thing together. The grids are ziptied to the frame.

So clever! Thanks for the info. :)

I have stacked cages. Both are 2x6 and I love this design. I used grids, connectors and a ton of zip ties.
