Size Hay rack

I made two hay racks yesterday, and they are a lot bigger than I thought they would be. Each hay rack holds 4 pounds of hay. How long can I expect that to last? Are they just going to sit there constantly eating until they finish off all 8 pounds?

My hay rack is large. Idk how many pounds it holds but it holds a lot. They eat from it often but I only have to fill it every 5-6 days.
