So my guinea pig, Lily, is about 2.5 years old. She has tufty hair and in two spots on her back, there is little pieces of skin showing where her tufts go in different directions. Today I noticed that she has a little scab in each of those spots, and she seems to have quite a bit of dandruff on her when I pet her. It might be fine, but there also might be something wrong with her and I'm not sure. She's acting normal, not itching at all. She also doesn't seem to have any fleas.

Get some antifungal medicine (Nystatin, Lotrimin, etc) and apply it twice a day with a q-tip, rubbing it in well. If it's a fungus, that should take care of it in a few days. But keep treating for several days after you notice new hair growth -- fungus can be really stubborn to get rid of.

Alright, and also, someone else said that she could have mites under her skin... Do you think that is a possibility? :( Lily3.jpgLily4.jpgLily.jpgLily2.jpg

I doubt it. She'd be scratching if she had mites. But the antifungal stuff is cheap and easy, and if it doesn't work, you can then treat her for mites.

Ok, if I don't get the antifungal stuff, which I will try to get, will it go away on its own?

No, it's unlikely to go away on its own.

You can get the antifungal stuff for less than $10 at any pharmacy.
