I'm having trouble introducing two sows. I have a 7 year old sow (TJ) who has been a lone pig for about 2 years after her sister passed away. Recently I decided to get her a companion, so I adopted a 6 month old (Israel) from the Humane Society. After I had Israel vetted, I tried introductions in a neutral location. After about 30 minutes, Israel challenged TJ, which ended up in a whirling battle (no one was bitten, just a tuft or two of hair loss). Later on I tried bathing them, then placing them together in a fresh, large (24 square foot) cage. After 10 minutes of exploring they started getting ready to fight again, so I divided the cage down the middle. Off and on they rumble and chatter their teeth (again, not trying to bite, just being aggressive).

Is this normal for introductions? Should I take a different approach? Any tips for achieving peace are appreciated.
