The vet office I go to has two in-house exotics specialists. The vet I saw for Trio is one of the two. She's the one who saw him initially and she's the one who did the surgery.
I hope you're right that the GL people will have experiences that indicate that his molars will be able to meet again. This vet seemed to feel that the cause of the malocclusion was something other than the overgrown molars, like maybe a fracture in his jaw.
Being blind in one eye, he does sometimes turn his head to the sighted side and in the process, bump his head, although it never seems to be that hard of a bump. He did collide with his cagemate a few times but again, they both seemed okay after. Her overall feeling was that this would be a chronic problem and his molars would never be able to meet again.
Incidentally, and thankfully he hasn't loss his appetite and actually, seems more interested in solid food now and he hasn't had diarrhea. Actually, he hasn't had much at all in the way of poop. A few days ago, he was pooping soft but solid poop. Now, Im finding clumps of soft but solid poop. It was almost like what I would see with my impacted male a few years back.
Ill definitely search GL for what you mentioned. Any potentially good news is welcome.
