Seeing as how you have it why not incorporate it into the new cage maybe a level for a kitchen.

Ok yeah.
Would I just put the base in the new c&c cage and make a ramp up into it?

So, Iv just measured where I could put there cage. Iv realised I have enough room for a 3x5 cage. would you say thats a bit to big just for two guineapigs?

Is your available space 3 feet x 5 feet or is it 3 cubes x 5 cubes? The cubes are 14 - 14.25 inches square. A 3x5 C&C cage is a good size for 2 boys and if you use the store bought cage for a second level "messhall", they would have a really nice home.

It would be 3 cubes by 5 cubes, and I looked on the reccomended sizes and it says that 2 boys need 2 cubes by 4 cubes.
So i thought a 3 cubes by 5 cubes maybe a bit to big.

I also really want to do the second storey with the store bought cage, but have only been allowed to buy one pack of grids, witch will just about make the 3x5 i want.
Also I have no idea how to make a second storey, and my dads disabled so he couldnt help me make it. So I may just have to stick to one level.

3x5 will be fine for two boys, gives them enough space for two bowls, two hideys, 2 hay racks/pans etc, the bigger the cage the better.

Unless your 3x5 is going to be open on at least 3 sides, the three wide may be a little difficult to clean. If it's 2x5, then you can reach all the way across from one side. If you make a 2x5 or a 3x4, there would still be room for the boys to be comfy and allow you a couple of grids for a ramp. I saw a picture in the cavy slave gallery where someone used "L" brackets (like for supporting shelves) to support a second level. They're not expensive and you would probaby only need 2. Hope that you find something that works for you and have fun doing it. Piggies are a blast.
If you do a 3x5, you could still put the store cage at one end for the kitchen. they would still have room and it would confine the food mess to one area. Either cut the side down for an entrance or make a ramp that goes up then down.

You can tie the store bought cage at one end of the cage or on the side and leave the door off it or use it for a ramp if it drops down just use coroplast or something and something for traction for them to get up and down with that way you still have all of the 3 x 5 cage for them to run in.

I think 3x5 would be great for 2 boys. Cerk and Tribble were in a 2x4 and they seemed to hide all the time, but when we made it a 3x4 cage they seemed to really come out of their shell and run around and explore. I think with a 3x5 they would be in hog heaven, so to speak.

So I got the grids today and set them up.
I dont have enough connecters so im going to secure the bottom of the grids with cable ties.

Looks pretty good but I would turn the store bought cage sideways so it is against the 3 grid side to give them more cage room

Yeah the corex is arrriving tomorow, and also Im not going to keep the store bought cage, Iv just put it there for tonight as i have no where else to put it at the moment as the new cage is taking up half my bedroom. I thought putting the grids together was hard work, but I think the corex will be harder, making sure it fits correctly.
