My two pigs, a girl and a castrated male, have recently been licking each other's ears quite a lot. They also nudge each other with their noses which I think is just normal but why are they licking each other's ears? It isn't a mating sign is it? :eek:hmy: We were told by the RSPCA that Josh my male is neutered. :?:

Oh, sorry, I should of put this thread in Medical and Veterinary, sorry!

No, they're just grooming each other. My females even do that. Bonded pairs regularly groom one another. They'll even lick their eyes and all over their faces. I had one that would lick the other one all over.

Aww, that sounds kind of cute! I've never seen mine groom each other.

I've heard that guinea pigs will take a specific interest in something suddenly if something's wrong, for example ears might mean an ear infection. I don't know how much truth's in it, but you could at least take a look in the ears to see if they need cleaning, if they've got particularly dirty that might explain all the ear attention.

I've been wondering this the past couple of days as little baby Dot will appear to sometimes 'nibble' Dede's (LW) ears and then Delta (LW) sometimes looks as if she's nibbling Dot's but there are never any marks or anything.
Glad someone asked!

I have looked at their ears, but they do seem fine. My girl's ear has a weird little floppy bit. It isn't bleeding or swollen, or anything, just a little bit of skin is on her ear. She isn't bothered about it. Thanks for your help!
