Hey! I have a C and C cage right now and plan on getting another guinea pig, but my cage is minimum size requirement for 3 piggies. I will be getting a new cage around August, but have no ideas for a diy cage. Any bigger C and C cage would take up my whole room, so I can't get another one. Please help or post pictures of your cages so I can get ideas. Thank you!

If you can't accommodate a bigger C&C cage, don't get another boar.

You said you have a 2x5 cage, right? Can you make it a 3x5?

@lissie I can't since it's right next to my bed and no room on the side of it. And I know of a cage that can hold 3-4 piggies depending on size

Could you rearrange some of your furniture?

@Piggly12 Sadly, no since my room is the size of a bathroom and closet combined.

Why do you want a 3rd boar if you don't have space? Boars need more space than sows. 3 boars rarely work. A 2x5 might work for a trio of sows, but will be too small for trio of boars that are not well bonded. Unless you have space for a 3x5 or 2x7, I won't recommend a 3rd boar. You'll also have to consider space for separate cages, in case your boars don't get along.

I must agree, if there is no way that you can get a bigger cage, then I would advise against getting another pig.

As you probably already know, levels do not count with floor space. Could you possibly stick with the pair, and create a stacked 2x5 cage? Surely if you can accommodate a third guinea pig, it wouldn't be too much trouble to get a fourth. Then you wouldn't need to worry about introductions and whatnot. Then you could have a pair on the bottom, and a pair on the top, without taking up any more floor space than a 2x5 would! You would have to make some modifications, such as putting some kind of lighting on the bottom.

I can get a bigger cage, I just can't expand it to a 3x5, but a 2x7 probably will work. I'm thinking about putting the cage under my loft bed since there's so much room. I am thinking about taking two tables, joining them together and putting plexiglass around the perimeter of the tables. I have seen so many youtubers with these kinds of cages and probably will go with that design instead @lissie @BaconAndEggs

As for the 3 boars, I have seen countless youtubers with 3 boars as buddies. I even know some guinea pigs at the shelter who are in sets of 3. We will do the introduction at the shelter to make sure they are ok with each other. If not then I will look at other boars. @lissie

I sincerely wish you luck introducing a third, I was warned by lots of people that it might ruin the friendship between my original two, and sure enough, they hate each other now. I hope your intro goes better! I love your tables and plexiglass idea. I've been wanting to do that myself. :)

@Kirtini I hope you keep trying to get them to like each other because some intros take a long time. And if you try the cage idea then send me pics of it!

I have a 2x6 with a 2x3 basement. The basement doesn't count towards the size of the cage, but my two girls love running up and down the ramp and hanging out down there.

@pigger123 I love your cage!! it is so spacious and cool.

@cavycrazy1107 my partner and I are moving next month and plan to re-introduce two of them and keep the one who starts everything on his own until we can afford a fourth. :D he seems so much happier on his own honestly, he runs and popcorns even more than the other two! Thanks for replying :)

That sounds great! Please tell me how it goes asap! Go on my other thread where you post piggie pics as a game and post a pic of yours, they sound adorable! @Kirtini
