I am going to purchase a cage for my guinea pig. I am waiting to hear if the piggie that i want to purchase as my second one is a female. So, the question I Have is this: Is it ok to buy a 2 x 3.5 cage for two piggies or should it be a tad bigger?

Bigger is better. A full 2 by 4 is best esp. if you are trying to introduce two new ones.

Purchase a new guinea pig? As in from a pet store or breeder? Why not adopt?

Petstores sell large numbers of small animals to all kinds of people who have no idea how to care for the animals. A large percentage of the animals end up in shelters--if there is room for them.
If you look on your local Craigslist site, a guinea pig will soon turn up, and then another, and another--in my city, there were several every week. Humane Societies, shelters, SPCAs, rescues-- any place there are pet stores selling guinea pigs, you can be sure that there are many sweet loving guinea pigs that need a home.

Please give one of these pigs a home!
