It's a little less than the recommended size for two sows. It's not nearly big enough for two boars.

But you can make a much larger C&C cage yourself for way less than what that cage costs. A box of grids is roughly $25, a piece of coroplast is $15-$20, depending on where you find it. You could make nearly double that size cage for the price of that one. See the Main tab at the top of this page for information on making your own.

Thanks! I'll look into those :)

How would I go about making a lid? I do have a cat, so I have to be careful.

Closet shelving makes an awesome lid.

The cat may or may not be a problem. Many cats aren't any more than mildly curious about adult guinea pigs. The pigs are large enough that they don't look like supper so aren't of much interest to the cat. Guinea pig pups, on the other hand, squeak and run and look like mice, so they're definitely menu possibilities.

My own cage is open, and very occasionally I'll discover the cat in there taking a nap with the pigs going about their normal business. But when the cat was younger, I had to keep a lid on it because he was determined to play with them, and that was pretty stressful for them.

But you're wise to be cautious until you know how your cat and your pigs will react to each other. Better safe than sorry.

I've had the piggies for over a year, just getting to a cage upgrade. And he didn't normally seem interested in them at all, but I figure it is better to be safe. I don't mind when I can watch them all together, but there's a lot of moments when I might not be able to.

Sears has 6 cube set (23 grids) on sale for $16.99. You only need one box, if you're not building a cage stand.
