I found this in my guinea pigs cage; the white mark. Is it where they mark their sent? There's 2 other spots of this. Usually where her house is. Also, I bought a pet carrier for taking them to the vet. Anyone know how I should properly clean it for tomorrow?

One of your pigs is just extruding extra calcium. How old is your guinea pig(s)?

There is only one in the cage now bc I'm waiting to introduce them. She is about 6 months old. Is this a bad thing?

We usually don't worry about it in young pigs 6 months or younger. But if it keeps happening when she is older it can lead to stone's. To stop it you just need to cut back on calcium rich foods.

It's urinary calcium. It may lead to urinary tract stones, which are painful for the pig and for your pocketbook, as the surgery to remove them is expensive.

What exactly do you feed your pigs? What kind of hay? What brand of pellets, and how many? What vegetables/fruits, and how many of each?

I feed her romaine lettuce and bell pepper every morning (just a few pieces though bc she's small). I give her parsley 1-2 times a week (again, only a tiny bit). And a piece of orange daily. I also feed her Bermuda/orchard hay. And I'm switching from her food from the shelter to Timothy based oxbow pellets. I have only had her since Wednesday night. Idk what the shelter gave her

Instead of romaine try red or green leaf lettuce. And I wouldn't give her oranges.

Fruit should be given very sparingly, and in small pieces. Guinea pig guts are not designed to process sugar, and it upsets the bacterial balance in the intestines. Too much sugar can result in a major GI upset.

Cut out the parsley, and switch from romaine to red or green leaf lettuce. You'd do better to feed KMS Hayloft pellets than Oxbow -- the calcium content is lower and is a different source than Oxbow. Your pig needs a cup or so of veggies every day -- the lettuce and a chunk of bell pepper should be daily staples. See https://www.guineapigcages.com/foru...vy-Nutrition-Charts-amp-Poisonous-Plants-List for what you can feed and how often.

If you have access to it you can try replacing the parsley with cilantro as it can be fed daily and most guinea pigs seem to love it (mine treat it a bit like candy)

You also have to watch cilantro for causing excess urinary calcium. Some pigs are fine with it, some are not.

Like my Cinna for instance I has to stop giving him cilantro because it would cause those white spots as well. So you really have to watch the calcium rich foods if your guinea pigs start having problems like this.
