I bought a three layer absorbent fleece liner for my guinea pig cage (80x160cm - 2,5x5ft for two males) and I really like it, it wicks well, it looks nice, its easy to clean, I spot clean every day, but it smells. And I dont know what to do. I washed it in 30° on a gentle spin cycle with apple cider vinegar and a gentle washing capsule like recommended, and it still kind of smells, it gets back to smelling bad about a day after I wash it. What do I do? I don't know what I'm doing wrong. This liner was really expensive and I really, really want to make it work.

To get the smell out, you'll have to wash it in hot water with bleach. Or find something to soak it in before you wash it.

Fleece is nearly indestructible. I used several pieces for years and washed only in hot water, with strong detergent and bleach. It looked just as it did the same day I bought it.

However, depending on what the liner in yours is made of, it may shrink. I'd ask whoever made it what the liner is made of, and whether it will shrink if washed with stronger settings.
