Hi there,

Was wondering if these are the oxbow pellets everyone raves about. If not, what others are there? Thanks!

No, those are the old ones, with the limestone in them. They've taken it out, but are apparently selling off what's left in inventory. Find a sack where the ingredients list doesn't contain limestone.

even the "new" packages have limestone in them.

No. Oxbow has taken limestone out of their pellets, as I understand it. One person has gotten one of the new bags with no limestone, if I remember correctly.

Definitely no limestone/calcium carbonate in the new formula.

I took a photo of the new ingredients list when I was at the pet store a couple of weeks ago.

I'm personally torn as to what to do as far as pellets go. I love KMS and so do my pigs but it is so expensive to get them to Canada. In total it would cost about $200 to get 50 pounds to me. Where as I can get the new formula Oxbow in 10 pound bags for $15. I'm just always concerned about calcium and bladder stones in my stone pig.

What's the calcium percentage on those pellets, @sallyvh?

I'm not torn at all, if Oxbow has eliminated limestone from their pellets I'm switching over.

I've ordered 6 times from KMS and 5 times I'm always getting delays or sent me alfalfa pellets instead. The only reason I switched to KMS from Oxbow because one of piggies who would get stones and wanted to put her and the whole herd on a low calcium diet.

I also switched to KMS for a stone pig, so I too am nervous to switch back to Oxbow even with the shipping costs. I have one pig that prefers Oxbow and one that prefers KMS but they will eat both. I think I'll try a 50/50 mix for a while and see how they do. It will be a little bit of a savings.

I believe it was min .35%, max .75%. @bpatters

The max calcium amount is the only thing holding me back from making the switch.

Yeah, I think it's too much, but it's not out of line with most other pellets. I wish they'd cut it back a bit.
