Finished the new cage. It's a 2x4. Fluffy is much happier now.

My daughter helped put the grids together. Fun family project. it was easier to put together than I thought it would be. The coroplast took about an hour. And the grids only 45 minutes M helping.

I added a kitchen insert. Hopefully we can contain so of the mess. It has a full bottom.

I'll post more pictures tonight. Going to add a tunnel for her. Planning on keeping it simple until we get our second pig.

It looks great! Just wait until the day that you will constantly be thinking about changing your current cage design. (Its really addicting!) In the 3 and a half years I have been using c and c cages, I want to say I have changed the design 7 or 8 times... Anyways, enjoy your piggies new home!

Ha, ha, you're right, cage design is an on-going process. Right now I'm losing sleep over a 3x3 versus a 2x4. Don't get me started on match fleece colours. :)

Cute piggy @rotto77. I'm sure she'll be very happy in her new home.

While you are waiting to get a tunnel, you could put in an upturned cardboard box with 2 or 3 holes cut out as doors, for her to hide under. Otherwise she will be in a constant state of stress, because guinea pigs instinctively flee and hide when startled, or when something approaches from above (and if your cage is on the floor you are always above her). She'd probably be even happier with two so she can flit from one to another and have something to explore.

The tunnel is an empty oatmeal container.

Looks great! If you have an extra grid you can bend it in half ( carefully ) to make a tunnel shape, pop on a jumbo sized book cover, ( cheap in the dollar store), and Voila!! you have yourself a decent tunnel. I have a few of them, I use them in the cage and at play time as my guys just love cavorting in and out of them.

Get a 5ft long folding table to put the cage on. EVERYONE will be much happier, it will be easier to see adn interact, clean, play and it will look even better. Then get a cheaper table cloth to put on the table (under the cage) that will drape near the floor, that way you can hide things (piggie related) hidden under it and you can get one to match your furniture or drape colors. Just some advice as this works great for us and doesn't cost much at all.

A table or stand is on our list. I didn't want to wait until we had everything. What we're thinking of is making a stand out of more grids.

Experimenting over the first number of months to keep tweaking things to make things better is half the fun, good luck! Make sure you'd zip tie them all well if you're going to do that though, a pig runnin' around plus all that cage/gear weighs quite a bit, hate for there to be a problem! Have a nice weekend.

LOL..I know right. Before my back got bad I think I have redone the cage(s) about 16 times give or take.
