So I got two new guinea pigs on Saturday. One of the two warmed up to me right away, but the other one seemed shy. Today for the first time, he warmed up to me a little and nibbled some food out of my hand.

Unfortunately, I noticed something is wrong with his eye, so tomorrow he's going to the vet. I feel kind of bad that just as he was starting to trust me, he has to have an unpleasant experience. Obviously his health is the most important, but I still feel guilty.

You're doing the right thing, and he'll feel better for it in the long run. And if you bring some treats, maybe the experience won't be so scary for him. I understand how you feel, but he'll feel much better in the long run with any injury taken care of. Good luck!
