I have a question related to how much space certain sized cages take up, and I wanted to know if anyone could give me an actual to scale size of their cages in terms of furniture/wall space. Meaning is your 2x3 the relative size of a dresser in the space it takes up, etc. I really want a 2x4 double decker but I'm afraid it won't fit in my bedroom. So if you guys could give me a comparison as to how much space on a wall it takes up, I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you have a measuring tape or yard stick? A 2x4 is 28" x 56" - so a little over 2 feet wide by a little over 4.5 feet long.

I currently have a 2x3 (which will be made bigger soon) and it is about 27x42 give or take an inch. I put mine about 3/4 on the dresser and built grid legs with shelves to support the other 1/4.

It really depends on the exact size of your furniture. If you can tell us the dimensions of your furniture, we can help you decide how to build the cage.

My 2x4 is the size of our small 4-person kitchen table. about the length of my dresser, and... I think i'll just take a pic and show you.

Okay, so there you go. It's not as long as my bed, though, but it's a little more than the width. I think my bed is Twin.

You can't really compare it to furniture because furniture comes in many sizes. Not all dining tables are created equal. The best way to figure out the size is to assign a space to put the cage, then use a measuring tape. Then put some masking tape on the floor to see how much space it actually takes. Live with the tape on the floor for a while and see if you can really accommodate that size cage.

Lissie, I may steal the masking tape idea as i'm still trying to determine the size of my cage for my guinea-pigs (I currently have no guinea-pigs). However, I think anyone who came into my flat might think i'm a bit strange....

A 2x4 is about the size of a small to medium size rectangular dinner table that would seat 4 or 6 in a pinch. They are usually 30x60.
