ive been looking for a week now for grids and NOWHERE sells them. I found Rubbermaid grids online but looked everywhere for them (Bunnings, Reject Shop, KnD, Target, Kmart, Big W) but to no avail. Does anyone know where to buy grids in Tasmania because i'd like to buy local instead of online if i can.

PS: I havent found any ibex grids but even if i did i wouldnt buy them becuse they can kill pigs.

If you can't find grids, you can use closet shelving. Most stores that carry them will cut them to size for you. There are a lot of ideas for alternate material cages in the photo section.

Normal grids are about 1.5 inches. If you could find anything 1.5 or less, they will work fine. If you have baby pigs, the space between the grids should be 3/4 inch or less.

More ideas here:

This cage is made from shower stall pan and closet shelves.

Thanks for the sizes Lizzy, That fist cage is a pretty good design but quite small, the second one is like the setup i am keeping one of my piggies in now (she has an eye infection, my other pigs are in a hutch) it is simple to make but hard to clean because it takes two people to place the wire cage down without messing up the bedding.

btw I love the fur color on that black and yellow piggie in your profile pic, it looks awesome!

Ibex grids and Rubbermaid grids are pretty much identical (or they were, when they were being sold at Bunnings). It's hard to find grids in Australia, the only places I know of sell them online.

I read on here that ibex grids are only 8x8 because the grid holes are bigger, big enough to get a pig head stuck and strangle it :'(

Rubbermaid grids are 9x9 so they r ok but I can't find anywhere that sells em so I might just build a cage for my piggies.

You could just build a cage out of just coroplast.

Is that possible?

Ibex grids are (were?) 9x9, certainly all the ones I bought are 9x9, the same as the Rubbermaid grids (which I also own, grid hoarder a little ;)).

There are lots of alternatives to cube cages though. Other people have given you some great ideas!
