Loss Death from falling

I had baby guinea pigs and we could not look after them so i gave two to my friend. One of them jumped to his death and the other one is alone now. The one that died had a bond with his mum so is it because of that? I feel like the other is going to starve him self. Why did he die?

Piggies have very poor depth perception. If the guinea pig isn't in a cage then yeah they might jump to their death by accident. I seriously doubt suicide was the answer.

Pigs have eyes on the sides of their heads, not the front, which means they don't judge distance and depth well at all. Three inches, three feet, it's all the same to them. Pigs should never be put in a position where they can wander or jump off something taller than just a very few inches.

He died because he fell. Guinea pigs aren't like cats, they cannot survive falling from heights above around like two feet, any higher and it'll kill them. he probably just got spooked and jumped off of where ever he was standing.
