Two piggies in separate cages?

Friar Tuck is our roughly 9 month old un-neutered boy, and we would like to adopt a friend for him. They would live in separate cages next to each other in the same room.We've heard that a female could cause Romeo and Juliet problems, so we want another male. Question is, would they be ok that way/not stress each other/ etc? Thanks so much for any insight!

Why don't you want them to live together?

There's no telling what they'll do if they're side by side. Or together, for that matter. You'll just have to experiment and see. But if you took him to a good guinea pig rescue for a meet-and-greet, he could pick out his own buddy. You might even be lucky enough to find a spayed female.

We just don't want a piggy war...if they really seem bond we would be open to having them together! Just want to play it safe &#55357;&#56842;

You can't know how they'll get along until you put them together. Having them side by side will tell you nothing.

Putting them together isn't the end goal...just for Friar Tuck to be happy with a friend. He's very happy now; wheeks and popcorns all day---but since piggies are herd animals we've read that they're even happier with each other. It'd also be great to rescue another piggy because we know so many are in need of it!
