Hi guys!!
As of last Saturday, I have my full family of piggies. (Had three, a pair and one lone pig) last Saturday, I got a pal for my other pig. Intro's went great. So now, time to think about a new cage. At the moment I have a stacked 2x4 c and c cage for my 4 boars. I am thinking about recreating my cage though. I want to have that has a plexiglass front with possibly melamine wood sides. My cages NEED to be stacked... And can be no bigger than a 2x4 in grid size. So now it is up to you all! I need ideas. Inspiration. If you guys can, please post photos of your cages bellow of plexiglass cages. Thanks guys!!

Do you mind me asking why plexiglass, out of curiosity? I'm new to this, so I'm no help!

How is the cage stacked, do the fronts need to drop down or swing out or are they just low enough you can reach in? My cage is 2x4 C and C with plexiglass panels in the front that fit inside the connectors. I choose to make them grid size so they can be easily replaced for cleaning or if one gets scratched its cheaper to replace just that one small panel, plus it adds more ventilation that way,but you can also do one long panel.

Here is my current cage. The front two panels are plexiglass. There is also a plexiglass window built into the coroplast and two acrylic tubes on the top to make a racetrack.

Here are a couple other angles.

Here you can see the 6" plexi window that replaces part of the front coroplast:

Another view of the coroplast window. The window is inside the coroplast tray, so there is technically two layers of plexi down there.

I guess my piggy is out so often I'm not usually looking at him through bars, lol.

@Traysea, Love the clear tube connecting the lofts -- so neat and creative! What did you use for the metal bars to hold the top? At what IS the top made from? I'd love to have pretty much this setup

We put plexiglass in the front of our cage. When we move in the spring we will add more, as we are expanding the cage. But we love having the clear front, and the pigs do too!

Yes, I got it all precut from tap plastics.
https://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic/acrylic_sheets_clear/508

I ordered 1/8" thick x 14" x 14" for the panels that replace the grids (it has to be this thickness to fit inside the connectors) and I ordered 5 1/2" x 55" for the window panel for the coroplast. If you are doing a full panel and not just grid size go at least 3/16" or 1/4" thick. The thicker is much stronger.

The bars are wonder bars from the cage store https://www.guineapigcagesstore.com/candc-wonder-bars#.UtKoG3nnlFI
The top is made out of 16" wire closet shelves from home depot. Very sturdy and much cleaner looking than a grid top. It comes in assorted lengths like 3', 4' and 6' feet. If you need a different size you need to either have it cut or cut it yourself and then sand/grind down the cut ends. I believe it only comes in white. You can also build whole cages in it. It is an awesome material for cages.

The Tubing I got from us plastics online, the plexi panels I got from tap plastics. I have to say though today i swapped out the front tube for a grid cat walk to see if I liked that better. I think the tubing is fun but it was blocking a lot of the front of the cage so I wanted to try a bent grid catwalk. I will update in a week or two when I figure out which I like better. I think because it's so low having the tube/catwalk in the front is bugging me. If the cage was 2 grids high (with lofts instead of patios I think that it wouldn't bother me so much. I think it will be faster cleaning the grid catwalk than wiping out the tube and it's better ventilation too. I am never satisfied LOL

I built the cage out of a storage unit - as there are two hamsters living on other two levels. But the cage would stand alone just fine. I used one of those closet organizer shelves in the back, and the sides are cubes, though I'm going to switch those to plexiglass. The front is a piece of plexiglass that I got at a hardware store as a scrap because it was already cut, which worked very well for us, as it was cheap and the exact size we wanted. We put a small wooden dowel along the top because our one piggie likes to stand up. The bottom of the cage is chipboard and coroplast
