I dont know if the bottom of my piggy's feet should be pink? there are small patches with out fur on her back legs. she does not seem bothered by this but i just wanted to make sure?

Thanks for the link, on another page of that site it had something more like what she has https://guinealynx.info/hairloss.html#warwounds

She is getting bald spots on her back leg near what i would call her knee? The site said that it could be from running around. Thats what I kinda thought it was from but just wanted to ask for an out side opinion.

When i went to the vet my pigs front foot was dry and scally. The vet suggested vitamin E cream on it and very small amounts and its ok if the pig licks it. She also said if it gets real bad she will start going bald and that she could get mites. Hope this helps.

Im really new to this guinea pig thing, some one in my appartment build was just going to place there pet out side not wanting it anymore and I took it in.

but i noticed in another post that ramps should be covered?

Does this go for the whole cage? My Piggy is in a cage with a metal for her dropping to fall though. Could this be my problem?

Yes it is a problem. Thats probably why her feet are the way they are. Read up on the different cages. Also if you don't have the money for a new cage maybe you could just fix the one you have up. I am a new owner as well but i went through all the forums and caught tons of info off of here. Good luck.

You NEVER should keep animals on wire bottom cages. They are cruel. They can hurt their feet and/ or break their legs.

Throw the cage away and build a C&C, or at least put down newspaper or something to protect her feet for the time being.

g42- this little piggie may have the beginnings of bumblefood (pododermatitis) from being on the wire of the wire bottomed cage. You may want to check for swelling and if there is swelling, take her to the vet to be checked.

Thanks Rabbitsncavyluv, I forgot to include the link.

Thanks so much for the feed back, I looked at the info on pododermatitis and it does not look anything like that. But I put a large thing of cardboard down and wood chips down on top of that. (here are some pictures)
(broken link removed)
I think that should be better? thanks agian for the feedback! :)

Shes a very cute pigger! The shavings and cardboard is a good improvment from the wire bottom although the cardboard will get soggy rather quickly. Are you thinking of making a C&C cage? They really are fantastic and they are very easy and inexpensive to build. Good job on taking her in, welcome to the forum and please ask any questions you have. The people here are very knowledgeable and will steer you in the right direction!

Yes, I am thinking about getting a new one or just cutting out the metal floor. Then the large plastic try would be her floor, as far as the cardboard I just wanted to do something for the short term to make things easyer for her till I put a little more thought in to it ( she also got a cucumber )

I'm sorry but what is a C&C Cage?

Take a look at this link, it is from the Homepage here.

That should tell you everything about them. The good majority of us here use them and swear by them!

Also take a look at the photo gallery here! There are tons of pics of them.
