My guinea pig gave birth to four pups today, unfortunately one is very tiny and has deformed feet it's struggling to get to its feet etc. don't know what to do for the best? Any advise welcomed. The other three are much bigger and very active. Mum doing well too.

I'd get it to an exotic vet to have it assessed and to see if it will be able to survive in it's condition. Sometimes, guinea pigs are able to compensate with a disability but I'd let the vet make that decision. If the pup probably won't make it, the vet can humanely euthanize it. You don't want it to unnecessarily suffer.

Give it some time alone with the sow so it can nurse. If it gets enough to eat, it may do fine with the feet if it's kept on the right bedding.

Deformed feet can be a genetic problem, or it can be caused by the sow getting overheated during a specific stage of fetal development.

Guinea pigs shouldn't really be given other species milk, his mums milk provides everything he needs.

I had a guinea born with a 'nasty' head tilt - He's for the most part grown out of it, every now and then when we hold him you can feel that he'll lean his head an unusual way but he's doing it less and less now. Am not sure how bad it is, but maybe he'll be like Zeke and sort of just grow out of it?

This is how he looked a couple hours after he was born;

Don't give him milk. What he needs from his mom's milk is antibodies, and no milk replacement will have that. Just put him with mom by himself several times a day and let him nurse -- he needs the milk more than the others do. If they're full term and functioning normally, they can eat whatever mom eats.

Very true, just let him feed 7 or 8 times a day minimum.. Otherwise he may die or the deformity may worsen or not heal.. MINIMUM.. Scary I know!!

He won't latch on have tried a few times. He is standing now which is better as he was just laying on his side squirming around. I know replacement milk is not the answer but wanted to give him a fighting chance. Many places recommend shop bought kitten milk for hand rearing so did not think it would be a bad idea...

If you did want to give him something it would be Critical Care but not milk replacer.

Ok will get to vets for some critical care or something if he still won't latch on. He can barely walk so won't do it on his own. Did not think he would make it for more than an hour or so but he seems bit better after four hours so fingers crossed for the little guy.

I think you can buy critical care from pet stores and online too, but I'm not sure.

Put some veggies, hay and pellets near him and let him spend time with his mother alone.
