What should I do if I put Vaseline on my Peruvian guinea pig?! I was just informed that the petroleum jelly (which is in vaseline) is not safe for guinea pigs, I put it on a little scrape that my piggy had and covered it back with his long hair. What should I do? Should I watch out for any signs that he ingested it? (it was a couple days ago) is he going to be OK? I looked it up, and There’s no straight answer

Just wipe it off and don't use it again.

All vaseline does is seal in any bacteria that are on the skin. It's not really useful at all in treating guinea pigs, except possibly for lubricating the tips of the ears and the bottoms of the feet. Even then, there are better choices, such as cold pressed virgin coconut oil, which has both antibacterial and antifungal properties.
