Well we finally got the fleece washed 4 or so times along with some u haul pads. My wife's sowing machine was barely able to handle it. We used two layers of pads and fleece top and bottom making them reversible. My wife said with a different foot it would have been a lot easier.

Anyways here's the reaction! click for video...

They are having so much fun!!!!! :D

Does the sewing machine have a presser foot tension setting? If so try lightening up on the tension. Also, a larger needle will help, I used a size 18 Upholstery needle.

And thus begins the fleece buying addiction.

Hello, my name is spy9doc and I'm a fleece-buying addict".

Step one: I am powerless over fleece and my life has become unmanageable.

Yep, that about covers it. I need a sponser.

There's no recovering from it. Guinea pigs have placed microchips in their owners brains to control their actions. Next step: World domination. We can only hope for a peaceful enslavement.

Anyways, I have some questions about using the U-haul pads sewed onto fleece. I have heard, but don't know for sure, that u-haul pads end up falling apart after a duration. Does being sewed to fleece prevent or reduce the risk of this happening? And how does the absorbency compare to regular absorbent "batting" (?) they put into cage liners?

At around 20 washings each, both of my original U-haul pads are still working (started using them around July). They have shrunk a bit and you can see thinning in the fabric from how much it sheds in the drier, but they're pretty hearty and still last me a week between changes.

LOL, and it doesn't help that I just bought a new sewing machine to sew all that fleece into....well, something. Not sure yet, but I think I need more fleece for whatever it'll become....
