We just added a fifth pig to our mix...all females. I ordered the extra large cage kit today. Do you think they'll do ok with that size? Right now we have two cages (two pigs to a cage) (store bought-largest they had) and the new one is by herself in a laundry basket until she gets adjusted. Thoughts?

All five in the 2X5 (that is the extra large right?) I don't think thats big enough. 2X5 is only recommended for 3 piggies.

I think they would need a 2x6 or a 2x7. Perhaps a 3x6 or 3x7. I like wider cages better but that's just me.

Sorry but that is not big enough for 5 piggies. We only spent 60 to make our C&C cage ourselves. Maybe you can make another one on your own or expand the one your ordered.

Ha! I've only had a wider cage for a couple hours and like it already ;)

If I had 5 guinea pigs, my cage would be a 4X5. So I recommend something around that

I have 14 guinea pigs. My cages go like this...

2 3x7 with 1x3 loft on both sides( each has 3 guinea pigs)

2 3x8 with 1x3 loft on both sides ( each has 4 guinea pigs)

I asked a question about if my cages were good and I got answering saying it was more than enought so I would suggest getting or building maybe a 2x9 or 3x9. If you can make such a big one I would just split them up.

A 3x7 or 3x6 would work also but I like to house my guinea pigs in a big environment.

The recommended and minimum cage sizes are here on the home page, in the table at the top:

I think Fresian.m is right - you might need TWO extra-larges for your little piggy herd! :)

2x5 is way too small like the others said, I used to have a 2x5 but I thought it was too small just for 2!
