I recently acquired two guinea pigs...recent as in 4 days ago. They are both female, 11 weeks old and sisters. I filled their water bottle and within 30 minutes the bottle was empty. I refilled it and left it at that. I don't think they had used it at all the first day we had them. I figured they found it and drank it all. Later that evening, I completely cleaned out their cage and put fresh bedding down. I filled the water bottle again, and left them for the night. When I woke up, 3/4 of the bedding on the cage floor was wet and the bottle was empty. I filled it again and this time sat to see what the deal was. I filled the bottle complete up, so as to create the vacuum when flipped over. What happens is every time they jump around, the bottle starts dripping like crazy. Is the bottle defective? How much water should they drink inside of a day and how much of the bedding will be wet from them expelling urine? I have never dealt with guinea pigs before, so I am not sure what to expect.

Thanks for your help!

Never mind. This is no longer an issue.

Defective bottle. I went to Walmart and purchased two new bottles and they work just fine.
