Hi all,
My daughter recently adopted 2 female guinea pigs. At present their cage is in our office on the computer desk because we have a dog (standard Poodle/Shepard mix, the rooms are separated by tall baby gates. The kids are in and out of this room constantly but with school starting on a few weeks, the room will not be occupied as much as the family room. I would like to move them into the family room as it is off of the kitchen and has the most traffic out of all the rooms. The only locations I have available are near windows (no direct sunlight as there is a covered screened porch covering windows and no draft as we replaced the windows a few years ago). Would it be ok to have the cage in the same room as the dog? Maybe place their cage on top of his crate? I would place a piece of plywood on top of the crate first. I know not to let the guinea's out of the cage while the dog is out of his crate. He crys when he can't see them. He loves to look at their cage and watch them, he wags his tail the entire time and cry's more when he's out of the room. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
On a side note, how do you clean all the stool without shoveling up too much bedding. We are using carefree paper based bedding and I seem to scoop up more bedding then stool. I am using a small plastic shovel.
Thanks!!
