What's up on your website looks great. Congratulations on getting it back online!

I can't wait untill your complimentary health care section goes online. I know quite a bit about complimentary health care for humans (primarily working with the Chakras) but would love to see something about working with animals.

Your site looks wonderful, but I saw that on your suggested reading page that Peter Guerney was on it. Frankly, you can ask many members here, including me, about him and some will say that his info is often inaccurate. Now, I'm not sure if these books don't have any inaccurate info or what, but I think that you might want to make sure just in case.

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate them.
In general I like Peter Gurneys books, as far as guinea pig books go. There are much worse guinea care books available in the UK.
(Why do I feel this thread is going to go downhill from here lol )

I suppose it's like anything, there will be links on the site to other sites that I like, though I may not agree 100% with the entire site content.
I'll link to this board if okay with Theresa...but again I dont share her views on everything. Or of course the site members.

You do have a point with the books. I've read some stuff off of his website and some of it's quality, but some things are a bit iffy. I believe he said that male boars can't be kept together, yes? Frankly, I think you should put a little warning next to it that says 'Some information is false' or something. But I've heard that piggy potions comes in handy in a fix.

I don't only rescue long haired cavies, if you read my site, it says I specialise in the long haired type. I state I will try my best to help any guinea pig, space allowing.
In my area, we have quite a problem with the long hairs as we have a good few breeders who sell in the local free ads on a regular basis. Also pet shops who sell them.

Many of these lovely animals need extra care due to their awful coat condition. They also need regular coat care, so by me taking these from general animal rescues, if they desire...everyone wins. Not least the guinea pig. In my experience the long hairs take longer to rehome too, many owners don't want the commitment of the coat care. As I am a small rescue this isn't a problem. I have all the time in the world to bath, groom and socialise.
This helps take a tiny bit of pressure off larger rescues.
I have years experience caring for long haired guineas...so why not put that to use.

At the moment I have several guinea pigs here under false pretences!
A short coat Alfie, found wandering and handed into local vets. Charlie another "abandoned" short coat. Solo, a black and white short coat male ~unwanted pet. And his pal Jinty a Sheltie cross. So as you can see...I am very strict in my criteria

In my book he says ~
"...as a general rule, two boars will only live together peacefully if they have been brought up together or a young one has been introduced up to an adult and then brought up with it."

Pretty sound advice to me.

I do of course appreciate that two adult boars may also be introduced...though in my opinion many pet owners wouldn't manage it.
I personally don't rehome adult boars to be housed with another existing adult boar.
I do sometimes pal them up here, as I have Charlie and Jinty.

As far as putting "some information is false" I guess I could put that next to most links I add. It's unlikely I'll agree 100% with everything said on every web page. I couldn't just say "some information is false" I'd have to which information.

He also suggests to bathe pigs with baby shampoo. Frankly, I think the only links you can trust completely are GL and Cavyspirit. I can;t get over the fact that you simply would not adopt out to another adult boar. Are you aware that you're greatly limiting your adoptions? And actually, two babies boars raised together have just as much chance not getting along as two adults. Two boars going through puberty is hell, and my boys didn't get along with each other because of it.

Thank you for your comments dolittle, however I think I've been involved with rescue long enough to decide what I can cannot include on my site. As well as how I should or should not rehome my guinea pigs.

You will find that every rescue has it's own ideas and criterias.

Seems strange to me. I rarely ever hear of adult boars being introduced and not getting along. I know Dagwell has four adults that were introduced at different times, same with Ryan. CavySprit also has a cage with four boys together. Everyones experiences are different, however.

My young and old boar pair aren't doing the greatest. Spinel gets annoyed by Kero's antics and Kero wants to be the boss. So now I have two roughed up pigs living in a divided cage untill they recuperate and I try again.

I also have a sow who is terrified of other sows. So either I just get all the weirdos or things aren't so black and white.

I searched far and wide for even a sort of long haired pig. All I ended up with were an abbyruvian and some messed up sheltie abby mix. They seem to get snapped right up. Kinda like trying to find a pure white persian at the SPCA. It's a bit tricky.

Except that I believe you left out the negative, making it look like you WERE always available.

Also, I admit that I was hoping for pics of your available piggers. Just for my vicarious viewing pleasure. Did I miss them?

Hi,
I had hoped no one would notice the deliberate error :shhh: I had realised we'd made a mistake, will update it, probably tonight!

There will be some guineas available pics as soon as the guineas I have in are ready. I'll also post some long term resident pics and a little about their history, as well as rescues from the past.

Oh, sorry...I'm a proof-reader from way back! My spelling skills are leaving me left and right, but I still tend to notice stuff. On sites riddled with mistakes I don't even bother to point them out, and this one stood out because it might make a BIG difference to you.

My cage ave ''1'' by''1''in. sqs. they are too big for sides my brother would put stuff through them are there any thing smaller that you know of?
