Hi everyone I need help ASAP! I have noticed that my guineapigs have been scratching a bit and while I was holding them the other day I noticed white specks that kinda look like dandruff so plz a little help? I am kinda scared.

Yeah. I think it's lice. Ugggg!

It looks like dandruff? Did you see it move? My girls had walking dandruff recently. Literally named because the parasites look like dandruff, and move. If you treat it quickly you can avoid the pigs going through pain and fur loss. I caught mine within a week of them getting it and they're fine now. https://www.guinealynx.info/furmites.html

Well I would check out this website: https://shop.gorgeousguineas.com/ they have lice treatments and they use all natural ingredients.

You could go to your vet and let them give you a medication or you can use Ivermectin but be very careful in dosages as to much could kill your guinea pig you can also use resolution but I don't know to much about this treatment.
Luckily lice dosn't spread to fast and if treated soon won't cause to much pain.

Tells how everything goes!

Also check the link that princesspiggie posted.

Also if you search "lice" in the search box tons of threads about lice will come up and those might help you to.

Just found out it's not lice it's freaking mites! Getting them treated

Mites are easy to treat. What method and medication are you using?

I will be using ivermectin

I used Ivermectin for my girls. So long as you've caught it early, and make sure you give their stuff a good clean, you should be okay if you follow the treatment guidelines.

Yep. I started watching them and doing more research as soon as they started having the symptoms of mange mites.

Are you sure it's mange mites? Mange mites are different to the walking dandruff (fur mites) I linked you to.

I mean either way the treatment is Ivermectin, but mange mites may require a more aggressive treatment (orally, intravenous etc) than fur mites would, and need to be taken quite seriously too. https://www.guinealynx.info/mites.html

Just got the medicine!
