Skin Problems Small dry raised skin/scab on both GP noses

Hi,

We have 3 female GP, 2 Texels and 1 smooth coat. They share a number of big and small hutches, both inside and outside with some area to run free in a soil/loose leaf garden bed.

The 2 texels have recently developed a raised white scab/flaky skin on a small part of the top of their noses. The smooth coat has not had any symptoms.

It is more pronounced on the white GP.

Is is fungus? infection? Dry skin?

Any advice would be appreciated.

it could be ringworm, which is pretty common in pigs. i cant tell from the picture myself but if it is that can be spread to humans afaik, so handle with care.

My guess is that it's the beginning of a fungal infection. I'd get an over-the-counter antifungal cream (available at any pharmacy), and apply it sparingly with a q-tip twice a day, rubbing it in well. Wash your hands well afterwards, or use rubber gloves, because you can catch a fungal infection.

If it doesn't improve in a week or so, switch to a triple antibiotic cream (any pharmacy, any brand), and apply the same way. Just be doubly sure to rub it in well, because you surely don't want the pig to ingest any antibiotic.

If a week on that treatment doesn't fix it, see a vet.
