We got a new bunny today!

It wasn't planned. I was looking on Craig's list for a collie when I saw an add for a free bunny and this poor bunny's story was just sad.

The poster found the bunny on the side of the road. I emailed about it and they didn't know the gender and said the bunny was covered in mud. I decided to just go for it.

The bunny is a black female mini lop, she still had mud on her, she was missing batches of fur and is a bit under weight but she's super friendly. Loves her head pets.

She still needs a name and I'll be building her a C&C cage this week but here she is!

She is too cute! I didn't know you could make cc cages for bunnies.... won't they just hop out?

I like Hope for a name....Our actually Chance... Because she's been given a second chance!

What's dad is she most likely was a pet that someone "set free". I'm glad you came together!

Oh my goodness she's adorable! I love all rabbits, but lops just pull at my heart strings. :) Congratulations on your new family member!

@Zombie Queen: C&C cages for rabbits are built with lids on them and are usually 3-4 grids high, depending on if there's a second floor built in.

This bunny is a real sweet heart and is super calm around people. She already flops down when she lays down.

The kids and I bunny proofed the living room today for her. Have not seen any binkies yet but she does come in and out of her cage easily and hop on the couch!

My husband and I have her a bath last night due to the mud on her. She was displease.

She is just a beautiful doll. What a lucky little girl, after all she has gone through, to have found her way to your home.

I think this bunny girl might be expecting. I've noticed her sides moving this evening. Poor girl. :(

Oh dear, She does look mad about the bath. If she's expecting I guess you got more than you bargained for. But baby bunnies are sooooo cute.

Have you picked a name yet?

If the bunny has babies you can get a picture of your baby with them, that would be the cutest picture ever!

I watched a few movies on Youtube of babies moving in a pregnant rabbit's tummy and I am pretty certain that she is indeed pregnant. My husband and I made her a nest box this evening but she did not seem interested in it, which isn't unusual. Some does don't make a nest until the day of birth. I'm making it a priority to make her C&C tomorrow to try to reduce any stress from cage size or constant movement of cages. From what I am reading babies can be seen moving about 10 days before delivery so it shouldn't be too much longer to see if she really is pregnant.

I did not plan on babies when I went and got this rabbit, the thought didn't even cross my mind but here we are. I'm glad I saw her tummy moving oddly this evening to get her on a good diet for however long she has left. I hope she is a good mother.

That really is such a sad story, it's good that someone took her in and even better that someone so knowledgeable and caring has adopted her. She's such an adorable little thing

I'm just curious, but I had always heard that you should 'never bathe a rabbit' because it makes them sick? Is this just one of those rumours that gets started by pet stores and the like or is there any truth in it?
