I was sifting through my hay to get some small pieces of hay and dust out of it and I found this. It’s very hard. I don’t know what it is. Has anyone else seen something like this before?

I found one of those in a bag of hay over the summer! It was like a rock but green. I'm trying to find the picture because it was pretty big. Like the whole palm of my hand! I've had pets who eat hay for over 15 years and this is the only one I've ever found.

Hay processing is a highly mechanized process with almost no human intervention. Hay is grown in fields where there are plenty of animals, rocks, shrubs, sticks, what-have-you. The wonder isn't that you occasionally find something unknown, the wonder is that there aren't more unidentifiable things in hay.

I wouldn't worry about it.
