cutting nails

So sorry if this is a really silly question. I remember that there is a powder you can put on guinea pigs nails in case you cut the quick. Thankfully you can easily see where the quick is on my girls. What was the name of this powder and can I use it for dogs and rabbits? Sorry my mind is blanking. >_<

Styptic powder. Cornstarch or even flour will also work, just not quite as well.
