Oh, and one other thought. If for now you have to keep one in what will be their 'permanent' cage (assuming they bond) and the other one in a temporary cage.... I'd suggest keeping the male in the permanent cage. The reason I suggest this is because females can be particularly territorial about their cage which could cause future difficulties when you want them both sharing that cage.
